Presentation

The Mitropa Cup is the Central European Championship. This sporting and cultural event is organized this year by the Ligue Corse des Echecs, under the aegis of the European Chess Union.
Created in 1976, the Mitropa Cup now brings together ten federations: Germany, Austria, Croatia, France, Hungary, Italy, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland.
Historically, Central Europe assemble the strongest players in the world. It is therefore natural to find the European and world elite there.
The competition is played on four chessboards, Open and Women. There is no elimination. The participants are present during the two weeks that the event lasts.
Traditionally, national federations present teams that combine great players and their best hopes: candidates for the world title and European champions will therefore meet in Corte.
